Privacy

This site is run by Juraku Inc., DBA Izakaya Juraku. Here is exactly what happens when you open a page on it.

What we measure

We use Google Analytics to see which pages get read and roughly where readers come from. It is the only third-party script on this site.

What we look at is totals. Which posts people read, which country they are in, whether they arrived from a search or a link. We do not use it to identify anyone.

Google is the only company that receives any of it, because sending it to Google is how Analytics works. It goes nowhere else. We do not sell it, we do not trade it, and we do not pass it to advertisers or to anybody else. There is no advertising, no ad pixels and no remarketing on this site.

Everything else a page needs, fonts included, comes from our own domain. The one exception is the browser games under /play, which load a display font from Google.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies so it can tell one visit apart from the next. It is the only thing here that sets any. If you would rather it did not, Google publishes a browser add-on that turns it off everywhere, and any tracker blocker will stop it too. Nothing on the site breaks if you do.

One other thing is stored in your browser, without a cookie: a note that you closed the newsletter popup, so it does not reappear every time you visit. It stays on your device, is never sent anywhere, and clearing your browser data removes it.

The one thing we do ask for

There are no forms and no accounts on this site, and nothing is required of you to read it. The exception is the newsletter, and it is worth being exact about it, because we do ask.

A popup asks once whether you want it, and there is a signup link at the bottom of the blog. Both are entirely optional and the signup itself happens on Toast rather than here. But the mailing list is ours, so if you do sign up we have your email address. We use it to send you the newsletter and nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to anyone, and every email we send has an unsubscribe link that works.

Where your information does go

Reservations, ordering, gift cards and newsletter signup all happen on other companies' services. When you click one of those buttons you leave this site, and their privacy policies apply from that point. We do not receive or store what you give them.

Hosting

This site is hosted by Cloudflare. Delivering a website requires processing basic request information such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request. Cloudflare handles that to serve and protect the site. We do not use it to identify anyone.
